Myconos island belongs to the group of Cyclades. Its distance from Piraeus is 92 and from Raphina 71 nautical miles. Its name has charming interpretations in Greek Mythology. One of them is, after Hercules has killed Giants then gathered huge rocks and heaped them up their dead bodies. "Mycon" is the ancient Greek word for "heap", so the Giants' stony tomb in the mid-sea was named Myconos. Another interpretation is that took its name from the son of half-god Anias, Myconos.
